By now almost everyone has made a cocktail for themselves at home. But have you ever been sitting at the beach on a beautiful day and thought, wouldn't it be nice to have a delicious cocktail right now~without having to pack all of your stuff up and head to a restaurant or bar where you might not get a table with a view or worse, have to wait for one? If so, this series is for you, an adventure seeker who refuses to be limited to beers, wines or seltzers to pair with your spectacular panorama! With this very idea consuming my thoughts, one beautiful fall day, Jonny and I decided to head to the coast to feast on crab at our favorite Marina and so I grabbed the pear syrup I made the week before and started mixing. I split the recipe into 2 mason jars, measuring out the ingredients as I would if I wear building them into a shaker tin. On this occasion I omitted the booze, but for this recipe I highly recommend adding 1.5 oz a clear spirit like your favorite vodka, gin or blanco tequila if you're feeling frisky. Pop them into a cooler with your beach snacks. You might already have your favorite travel cup but we happened to make a pit stop at a Thrift store and found these amazing vintage Red Lobster tiki-style lighthouse glasses and I just had to try them out! We grabbed a Big Gulp sized cup of ice from the gas station for 50 cents and headed to our destination. We ordered crab, poured the mix over ice, garnished and indulged. Then while I enjoyed the sunset, Jonny painted the Marina. It was pretty much a perfect day.
So here's to you, fellow thrill seeker, a delicious recipe from my archives:
Fall Beach Thyme 1.25 oz pear syrup, .25 oz lemon juice, 7 oz double strength chamomile tea, sprig of thyme. Garnish with an orange zest and more thyme.
